Walker’s shaky short game almost lost him the tournament, but he was able to overcome his anxiety to win . . . [this kind of perspective is] a good lesson for all of us, amateurs and pros alike, to remember.
Manchester, United Kingdom (PRWEB) February 14, 2014
Founder of UltimateGolfAdvantage.com (UGA), Alex Davidson, today announces a new interview in which he answers questions from readers and discusses the significance of Jimmy Walker’s weekend win at the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Mr. Davidson’s candid interview offers advice for golfers beginning the spring season and is available now at http://www.UltimateGolfAdvantage.com/alex-davidson-interview/.
In his latest interview, professional online golf commentator and founder of Ultimate Golf Advantage, Alex Davidson, responds to reader questions. Mr. Davidson offers insight ranging from personal anecdotes from his years on the course to analysis of Texas-native Jimmy Walker’s recent victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Discussing the incentive for his new interview, Mr. Davidson explained that it is part of his ongoing effort to share sincere advice and insight, as well as up-to-date commentary, with UGA’s community of dedicated golfers. He commented:
“There is so much noise in our industry that it’s important for serious golfers to have a place to escape the hype, ask questions and receive honest answers. Here at UGA we have a number of in-house pros and industry experts who can offer genuine advice on almost any golf-related query.” He added: “In this interview I answer a selection of our readers’ questions and offer top tips to golfers who are returning to the links this spring season.”
When asked about Walker’s shocking one-shot victory at Pebble Beach over the weekend, Mr. Davidson said, “He looked close to cinching the victory for a while, but faced two tough 3-putts after a bad chip on the 12th.”
Walker’s shaky short game coupled with a case of nerves almost cost him the tournament, but he was able to overcome his anxiety and take the lead, finishing 11-under 277, just one shot ahead of Dustin Johnson, and earning a cool $1.188 million.
“Having now won three out of eight starts so far this season, this new victory places Walker in the ranks of Woods and Mickelson. Naturally the team and I had a number of emails, opinions and commentary coming in from Ultimate Golf Advantage readers on the subject.”
Jimmy Walker’s example of mental determination in the face of intense pressure on the green speaks to the emphasis that the UGA team places on the importance of practicing the mental game as well as the technical elements of game. The UGA team routinely publish free tips and instruction for developing a winning mindset on the course, all of which can be found at the Ultimate Golf Advantage website.
Alex Davidson concluded the interview by stating his desire for golfers of all playing abilities to realize that everyone has different weaknesses on the course, but it’s important not to let a poor performance affect your mental game. He said:
“The feedback I receive from our readers reinforces that, no matter the handicap, we each struggle with different elements of this tough game. What players like Walker teach us is that instead of fighting our weaknesses, if we acknowledge them and maintain ‘big-picture’ perspective, we can still come out on top.”
