Cyclist Embraces the Power of Bicycles by Donating to Relief Organization
UltraRob announces holiday campaign to assist World Bicycle Relief
Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) November 23, 2009 -- Rob Lucas, the “UltraRob” and founder of UltraRob.com, a popular outdoor recreation and gear website, knows all about the power of bicycles. He commuted 10 miles each way to college on a bike, and he has spent much of his adult life racing and writing about bikes.

He is furthering his love of bikes and his belief in the independence they can bring by teaming up with World Bicycle Relief for the holidays.
From Nov. 23 through Christmas Day, Lucas is donating 10 percent of his site earnings at UltraRob.com to the non-profit organization. This is Lucas’ second year to donate his holiday proceeds to the program; his donation last year helped purchase 11 bicycles. Lucas’ website lists over 250,000 cycling and outdoor gear products from over 70 online stores.
World Bicycle Relief was formed in 2005, with the goal of providing bikes for transportation to people in poverty-stricken areas and those impacted in natural disasters. This summer, the Chicago-based group launched the Bicycles for Education Empowerment Program that will provide children in rural Zambia with 50,000 bicycles over the next three years.
World Bicycle Relief believes access to schools “is an essential element in the fight to end the cycle of disease and poverty in Africa,” especially for girls, who have fewer educational opportunities than boys. The bikes will be given to children, many of whom walk four hours a day to school and back.
