San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) May 1, 2011 -- Uncle Bob’s Self Storage® announced today details on a book drive to support a summer reading program in the Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio, TX, market areas. The Company’s intent is to provide area children with free reading materials for the summer.
The book drive has gained tremendous momentum over the winter months thanks to the support of the community and other local businesses. “Last year, we collected about 3,000 books; this year we already have 10,000 in storage and we’re not even at the finish line,” said Monty Rainey, Area Manager. Rainey credits the support of Uncle Bob’s customers as well as the San Antonio Police Department, Harmony Science Academy, McGraw Hill and others for spreading the word and making donations. “We especially want to thank Jacqueline Ortiz of WOAI for airing a story about the program,” continued Rainey. “That 60 second spot was a tremendous boost to the effort.”
Anyone wishing to donate children’s and young adult books may do so prior to May 31 at any of Uncle Bob’s 21 storage facilities in these markets. The donated books will be delivered to area schools for distribution to the local children and their families free of charge.
