We vote on popular TV shows all the time for who is the best singer, why don't we vote on more important issues facing us as a country like background checks for gun owners, gay marriage, affordable healthcare. Let's vote whenever we want as a country!
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) June 03, 2013
In only 10 days United Americans has united 405 Americans in 43 States by connecting their cell phones to a text message based group polling system. "We have the technology to do this...so why don't we use it?" says United Americans Founder Michael Smith.
"We vote on popular TV shows all the time for who is the best singer or dancer, why don't we vote on more important issues facing us as a country like background checks for gun owners, gay marriage, immigration reform, affordable healthcare, or education reform. We can now vote whenever we want as a whole country."
United Americans' mission is to unite Americans by using its nationwide cloud-based text voting/polling system. By asking the right questions, individuals will not only get to know each other as Americans but begin to understand each other better. Besides just answering yes/no or multiple choice questions, individuals can also ask open-ended questions too such as, "Why did you vote the way you did?" or "What are your ideas for fixing education?"—this will lead to greater understanding and better solutions.
Smith, President of OneCounts, Inc. a Utah-based corporation, has worked with clients such as AmericaSpeaks, Global Voices, The World Economic Forum, UNEP and others for the last 15 years as the Technical Director of large 1,000+ person single and multi-site town hall events.
"It has been my dream to use this type of technology to bring people together beyond the thousands we have worked with in single and multi-site events to millions of people nationwide and eventually globally. Our hope is that this initiative will help to bring the country together to have more respectful and civil dialogues by understanding and seeing where everyone is at without people having to shout to have their voice heard equally."
United Americans plans to ask all Americans with mobile phones, 18 and over, one question per week about issues facing the country. United Americans can send over a million text messages a minute! To ask everyone who voted in the last election a question on their cell phone, 130 million people, would take a little over two hours. United Americans can have a united voice and Americans can build consensus.
To get involved with United Americans or to find out more information, it is as simple as picking up your phone and answering this question sending only one number by text to 202-888-1400.
