Do you know a phenomenal teacher who deserves extra recognition? Teachers' Insurance Plan™, a car insurance program serving the educational community, sponsors an annual Teacher of the Year program that recognizes the exceptional achievements of these professionals. The deadline for nominations for the 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year award is April 30.
Teacher of the Year nominations are currently being accepted for educators teaching in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
Each state's award includes $1,000 to the winning teacher and $500 to the teacher's school. The winner in each state is eligible for the National Teacher of the Year award that includes a special recognition and a $2,500 travel certificate. Winners will be announced at the start of the next school year.
Teachers, students and parents can nominate any of the state's accredited teachers. Nomination forms are available online at http://www.teachers.com/toty. To nominate an educator, explain in 250 words or less why this teacher should be the Teacher of the Year. Nominees will be judged on their ability to motivate students, their special talents and their contribution to their school or educational community.
