When stained in the same manner as a patient sample, the white blood cells can be differentiated. The two-level control is assayed for manual cell counts, the five-part white blood cell differential, as well as the two-part polymorphonuclear and mononuclear differential.

Urate crystals are only present in level one and are easily identified and do not interfere with either cell-counting technique.

Cell-Chex offers a six-month closed-vial stability and 30-day open-vial stability when stored at 2°-10°C.

Streck also offers Cell-Chex™ Auto, a three-level spinal and body fluid control for evaluating the accuracy and precision of hematology instruments that measure blood cell counts in patient body fluid samples. Cell-Chex Auto verifies that the instruments’ reported values for total RBCs and WBCs are accurate at even lower levels than the daily CBC controls.
