Melbourne, Australia (PRWEB) November 04, 2012
Many travelers are moved to hit the road by other travelers and adventurers – from captivating characters in literature and dream-worthy films to intrepid television hosts and legendary adventurers. Now Urban Adventures wants fans and travelers to explain in 140 characters why they’re travel’s 140th character.
Until mid-November, in an effort to claim the coveted 140th spot, travelers should tweet their list-worthy reasons using the #140travellers hashtag. They must tell Urban Adventures about their travel styles, epic adventures, on-the-road learning experiences and cool travel habits – whatever it takes to stand out as a legendary traveler.
Some of the top entries received thus far include:
@thePortableLife: We’re 4 people, not 1, round the world 3x since ’07 & let folks know about TOTAL freedom to travel CONSTANTLY Do we qualify?
@motomonkeyadv: Danielle, The Australian Geographic Nancy Bird Walton Sponsorship for Adventurous Woman 2010, ever since is on the road RTW
@citizen_cade: Visited 20 countries (lived in 5) aim to visit 40 before my 30th(aug 2014). Travel educates the mind, unsettles the heart
The winner will not only join the ranks of some of the world’s most respected and motivational travelers and adventurers on this grand list of travel’s greatest 140 characters, he or she will also be featured in Urban Adventures’ yet-to-be-named travel inspiration e-book, launching later this year.
Already included on the list of travel’s 140 characters are the likes of explorers, adventurers, travel writers, characters in films and movies, authors, conservationists and travel bloggers, just to name a few. Amelia Earhart, the pioneering American aviator, was one of the first to make the list, along with Sir Edmund Hillary and Karen Blixen/Isak Dinesen. Others acknowledged include Anthony Bourdain, Michael Palin, Gertrude Bell, Bill Bryson and even Dora the Explorer.
The inspirational travel e-book will contain bios of all 140 travelers (including, of course, the winner), as well as travel quotes, favorite wanderlust-inducing films and enticing travel reads – everything travelers need to be stirred and excited about where they’ll venture off to next. Urban Adventures is committed to inspiring travelers to be adventurous, create new experiences and have a good time. The e-book will be yet another tool with which travelers can do just that.
