International Consumers find New Ways to Buy American Products

International consumers want to take advantage of the weak US dollar and have access to products they were never able to get in the past. We make that possible.

Shoppers outside of the United States hoping to get some good bargains because of the weak US dollar, don't need to book an expensive plane ticket to New York City to capitalize on their increased buying power. They can now simply point and click on their computer screen.

While e-commerce is certainly nothing new, often times shoppers outside of the United States find it difficult to buy products online because a United States address is required. Bongo International, a leading international e-commerce site, believes that everyone should be able to shop in the United States, regardless of their location.

Since January of 2008, the company has seen growth of over 40% each month. International companies and consumers are flooding to their website on a daily basis to buy US products and take advantage of the weak US dollar.

"International consumers represent 95% of the world population, and 73% of the world's gross domestic product," said Craig Turnbull, owner of Bongo International. "International consumers want to take advantage of the weak US dollar and have access to products they were never able to get in the past. We make that possible."

According to Turnbull, international consumers are more determined than ever to find US retailers who will ship internationally. Individuals and businesses from around the world are finding US products that they want to purchase, but many online retailers won't sell their products internationally.

"US businesses don't have the expertise to expand their business internationally, and they don't have the fraud protection measures needed to do so," states Turnbull. He has proven that there are ways to open doors in the US that consumers had been consistently shut out of in the past.

Turnbull, a leading expert in the field, outlines three simple things international consumers need to do in order to buy online products in the US:

  • Get a US address. The biggest mistake consumers make is leaving a site after reading that the business "Does Not Ship Internationally." Shopping carts don't need to be abandoned; by getting a US address, shoppers can buy from ANY online retailer in the US...even if they don't ship internationally.
  • Understand the Benefits of Consolidation. By making multiple purchases in the US from many different vendors, customers can cut down the cost per item by shipping all purchases together.

For example, if a shopper purchased a phone that weighed one pound and shipped it to Australia, it would cost $62.60 (according to DHL's 2008 Service Guide). If that same shopper bought five different one pound items from five different companies, the consumer could potentially spend $313.00. By consolidating with Bongo International, the consumer would pay only $61.71 for a 5lbs shipment. They would save $251.29! This concept makes each purchase significantly less expensive to ship internationally.

  • The Importance of a US Connection. Many companies in the US will not accept international credit cards. To overcome this, consumers need to have an individual who can make a purchase for them with an American credit card.

Turnbull's expertise in this field and his understanding of the opportunities, both for consumers outside of the United States, as well as companies within the United States wishing to sell more of their products, was the genesis for Bongo International. Bongo provides the following advantages to businesses and consumers in over 200 countries:
Creation of a US address
Free consolidation services
Mail and Image Scanning capabilities
Personal Shopping: Use of a Bongo International business credit card to buy products in the US.

"Buy anything you want in the US," Turnbull said. "If you live outside the US and want to take advantage of the products it has to offer, set up an account with Bongo and become a shop-a-holic."

Bongo International customers can sign up for as little as $5.00 for a US address. Their subscription customers only pay $15 per month to take advantage of the consolidation services. The Bongo International website can be found at
