uShip, the first and largest global online transport marketplace, announced today that it has been named to the Austin American-Statesman’s “2011 Top Workplaces” list, ranking No. 12 in the small business category. A third-party survey of uShip’s full-time employees shows strong company performance in several categories, including company direction, execution, career development, executive leadership, workplace conditions, compensation and benefits.

uShip made the list for the second consecutive year, moving up three spots after ranking No. 15 on the 2010 Austin Top Workplaces small business list.

“Culture has always been a critical part of what makes uShip tick, whether it’s here in Austin or around the world,” said Matt Chasen, founder and CEO of uShip. “As we’ve continued to grow, we’ve been able to maintain an environment that consistently shows employee appreciation, provides development and encourages participation. We simply have a lot of fun and keep it weird, as the saying goes in Austin.”

uShip currently has 70 employees, the vast majority of which work at the company’s 18,000 square foot office building in downtown Austin. Additional employees are located in Amsterdam, United Kingdom and within the U.S.
