Increasing pollen counts mean increasing symptoms for allergy suffers along the Wasatch Front as the climate changes from winter to spring. Local pollen counts have shown an increasing number of Elm and Cottonwood tree pollen in the air.

Doctors at Allergy Associates of Utah have seen an increase in patients suffering with allergy-related illnesses as spring pollens rise. As the temperature increases trees are usually the first to pollenate. The typical Utah allergy season starts with tree pollen as early as March, reaching peak counts in April. Patients with grass allergy may expect increased symptoms in May and June and then continue through the fall. Weed pollen rises in August and usually last until mid to late October depending on when the weather generates a cold, hard frost.
