Utilities Analyses, Inc. Helps Georgia School System Reduce Utility Costs

DeKalb County School System realizes major utility cost savings with UAI program.

Atlanta, GA, (PRWEB) July 5, 2007 -- Atlanta-based Utilities Analyses Inc. (UAI) reports that its utility bill audit and energy procurement strategies have resulted in substantial, measurable savings for Georgia's DeKalb County School System (DCSS). In the first six months of working with UAI, the school system received over $400,000 in electric refunds and eliminated over $400,000 in negotiated gas charges. To date, DCSS has documented and measured over $2.2 million dollars in accumulated ongoing savings and recovery of refunds by working with UAI.

The Atlanta metropolitan public school system, the second largest school system in Georgia, hired UAI as part of its overall initiative to reduce energy and utility costs. UAI's preliminary study of this large, multi-site school system's operation, as well as a keen understanding of the utility's associated rates/tariffs and qualifications, enabled Utilities Analyses to recommend and implement several rate changes and refunds.

Kevin Shaw, President of UAI, comments, "UAI has a comprehensive understanding of the cost structure among electric and gas utility companies. Therefore, as our track record demonstrates, we are able to evaluate end-user pricing in view of knowing the regulatory policies and available rate schedule options. Further, Utilities Analyses and the electric utility, Georgia Power, have worked together in a cooperative effort to serve the interests of the utility customer, which increases customer satisfaction for Georgia Power."

UAI attributes its success in harnessing energy savings for DCSS to its comprehensive research capabilities, its "win-win" negotiating strategies that enhance the relationships between utility companies and UAI clients, and DCSS' motivation to aggressively reduce utility cost.

In other utility service territories, Utilities Analyses has expertise and experience in developing new rates or modifying existing rate structures to become eligible for a "customer sponsored rate," which is approved by the utility and is then applied to the customer's accounts, particularly when there are limited rate options available.

Based in Atlanta, GA, UAI is a national player in energy procurement and utility bill audit. Other UAI clients that have realized major utility cost savings include various state and government entities across the country, as well as Fortune 500 companies. UAI provides services for commercial, industrial and governmental/institutional utility users.
