The Virginia Motorcycle Dealers Association Announces 2nd Half of the 2012 Motorcycle Grand Tour of Virginia

The Virginia Motorcycle Dealers Association has kicked off the second half of the 2012 Grand Tour of Virginia. The Tour is all about traveling the state by motorcycle, and enjoying the first cool mornings of late summer, the cooler days of early fall and the colors that are found in early October. The focus of the Grand Tour is for riders to visit the many back roads, byways and scenic attractions of Virginia while stopping at local Virginia businesses.

(PRWEB) August 14, 2012 -- This is the third year for the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Virginia, and it is being sponsored by the Virginia Motorcycle Dealers Association in cooperation with the Bed and Breakfast Association of Virginia (http://www.innvirginia.com ). The first two Tours drew riders from Virginia and seven other states. Additional sponsors for this year’s tour are Allstar Lodging Vacation Cabin Rentals, Bedford Welcome Center, Discover Lynchburg, Hampton History Museum & Visitor Center, Massanutten Waterpark, Nelson County Visitors Bureau, Newport News Visitor Center, Wytheville Convention & Visitors Bureau, and many more.

The riders of the tour enjoy a modified “Poker Run” and this year’s tour has 45 stops. Registered riders will be issued a ride passport and will be riding “for points”. At each of the 45 sponsored stops across Virginia, riders will have their passport stamped. Stops have deferring points, the more points a rider accumulates the more chances the rider has to win some of the nearly 200 prizes that have been donated. There are five ways to win prizes;

1.    Road Points
2.    Bonus Points
3.    Photo Contest
4.    Buddy Points
5.    B&B Dollars

Top prize for the Grand Tour is a ‘grand’ -- $1000 cash. In addition for anyone not winning the grand prize there are hundreds of other prizes totaling around $20,000 in total value. In addition to the cash prizes others include motorcycle helmets, leather riding gear, a 3-day 2 night stay at Massanutten Waterpark ($650 value), $500 cigar humidor, Allstar cabin lodging, 2 night stay ($500 value), SENA helmet Bluetooth system ($499 value), advance rider safety courses from companies like APEX and MRC as well as many gift certificates. A complete list of all prizes is on the Tour website. More prizes are being added as the season progresses. All prizes will be given out at the closing party and BBQ Saturday November10th in Orange, Virginia at the Waugh Harley Davison dealership.

Riders and passengers may register for the Grand Tour through Paypal on http://www.vamotorcycletour.com. Cost is $25, which includes the passport, map, the official 2012 rider patch and a ticket for the luncheon at the closing party Nov. 10th. Registration is also available at P.O. Proceeds from the tour will go to promote motorcycle safety, driver awareness and motorcycle tourism.
