It means that those lawsuits in the new consolidation will be afforded more efficient pretrial proceedings while still retaining the potential for individual compensation for harms for each plaintiff.

As thousands of transvaginal mesh lawsuits are progressing in a federal case consolidation, the Rottenstein Law Group LLP reports on the expansion of the consolidation to add another defendant, mesh device manufacturer Cook Medical, against whom women are filing claims over allegedly defective mesh that has caused them to suffer severe adverse side effects. The Rottenstein Law Group LLP, a vaginal mesh law firm, provides comprehensive information about mesh lawsuits and side effects at http://www.vaginalmeshlawsuitcenter.net.

The consolidation of Cook Medical mesh cases into a multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia was approved on June 11 by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, according to court documents in In Re: Cook Medical, Inc., Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation (MDL-2440). This MDL joins five existing MDLs in that court: C.R. Bard (MDL-2187), American Medical Systems (MDL-2325), Boston Scientific (MDL-2326), Ethicon (MDL-2327) and Coloplast (MDL-2387).

“This new MDL is an important development for those women who seek compensation for the injuries they believe they have suffered because of a transvaginal mesh implantation,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP. “It means that those lawsuits in the new consolidation will be afforded more efficient pretrial proceedings while still retaining the potential for individual compensation for harms for each plaintiff.”

Plaintiffs in the six MDLs allege that their transvaginal mesh implants have caused them to suffer serious adverse side effects, including erosion, bleeding, pain and infection, according to the court documents.
