Vaginal Mesh Lawsuit Update: Depositions Of Ethicon Executives Underway

Vaginal mesh lawsuits continue to move forward as depositions of top executives from Ethicon and its parent company Johnson & Johnson progress, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports.

Vaginal mesh lawsuits included in both the federal consolidated action, In re: Ethicon, Inc., Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation (“MDL No. 2327”), and the state court action, In re: Pelvic Mesh/Gynecare Litigation, No. 6341-10 (N.J. Super. Ct.) continue to proceed as depositions of several top executives from Ethicon and its parent company Johnson & Johnson move forward, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports.* The ongoing depositions include the following high ranking officials:

  •     Alex Gorsky, Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson;
  •     Gary Pruden, Company Group Chairman and Worldwide Franchise Chairman for Ethicon; and
  •     Sheri McCoy, Former Vice Chairman of Johnson & Johnson.

The testimony provided during these depositions will be used as evidence in both the federal multidistrict litigation, which is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia before the Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin, and the New Jersey state court action, which is pending before the Honorable Carol E. Higbee.
