Valassis (NYSE: VCI), one of the nation’s leading media and marketing services companies, announced today a distribution alliance that will both enhance and extend delivery of advertising insert packages to 1.4 million households in northern New Jersey. Through this partnership, CBA Industries, private carrier delivery, and the The Newark Star Ledger, the leading newspaper in New Jersey, will combine their advertising inserts with Valassis' RedPlum™ Direct Mail Package, creating a single, shared offering.
The RedPlum Direct Mail Package consists of individual, relevant offers, savings and deals from various businesses that are combined into a single package and delivered to consumers' mailboxes. The familiar Have you Seen Me?® Missing Child photographs and information are featured on the back page. Beginning in April 2010, the RedPlum Direct Mail Package will be delivered to over 143,000 home subscribers of The Newark Star Ledger; hand delivered by CBA Industries to 407,000 non-subscribing households; and mailed by Valassis to the balance of 860,000 non-subscriber households. This alliance is the latest of successful collaborations Valassis has entered into with 33 newspapers across the United States, changing the way advertisers reach out to 10 million U.S. households. Advertisers benefit from the efficiency of the newspapers' delivery channel and the precision of Valassis targeting and reach via direct mail. The alliance will leverage Valassis' proprietary sub-ZIP code consumer targeting platform. This allows advertisers to maximize their response rates by delivering the right information to consumers. The Newark Star Ledger’s newspaper subscribers will receive their merged RedPlum Direct Mail Package inserted in their Thursday newspaper, ensuring high visibility for the advertising offers, while those who do not receive the newspaper will receive their RedPlum Direct Mail Package either hand delivered by CBA or in their mailbox on Thursday and Friday.
