Virtual Computer Names John Glendenning as SVP Worldwide Sales and Business Development

Virtual Computer, the leader in distributed VDI, today announced John Glendenning as senior vice president of worldwide sales and business development. Glendenning, recently of Citrix, has been a recognized leader in the virtualization market since its establishment, most notably as vice president of sales at XenSource where he built worldwide sales from the ground up. Their success led to the company’s acquisition by Citrix in 2007 where Glendenning was most recently head of worldwide OEM sales.

John will be instrumental in accelerating the adoption of our award-winning NxTop product with customers, partners, and strategic alliances worldwide.”

NxTop combines centralized client management with bare-metal, client hypervisor technology to provide a cost-effective solution for managing any combination of local desktops, remote VDI sessions, and server- and cloud-based applications, cutting IT desktop operating costs in half without compromising mobility, user experience, or current PC investments.

“There is a perfect storm happening right now with pent up demand for Windows 7 migrations, under-resourced IT departments, and tight budgets,” noted Glendenning. “IT management has had enough of throwing good money after bad. Client virtualization leveraging a Type-1 hypervisor is the answer and I am very much looking forward to building on the success Virtual Computer has already enjoyed with NxTop, the market leading product in this category.”

With more than 18 years in the software and hardware IT industry, Glendenning has established and led sales and marketing operations in all regions of the world. He believes strongly in the partner/channel go-to-market model and brings extensive experience in establishing and growing field operations spanning small- and mid-sized businesses to the largest enterprises.

Prior to joining Virtual Computer, Glendenning was most recently with Citrix Systems where he led worldwide OEM sales following Citrix’s acquisition of XenSource where he spearheaded worldwide and international sales. As one of Citrix’s first international field hires and a sales leader in Europe and North America, Glendenning helped establish the early success of the desktop virtualization market.

Glendenning began his career within the VAR channel, followed by financial services enterprise sales at Compaq UK and leadership roles at Platform Computing and Hal Knowledge Solutions in the HPC/Grid and mid-range/mainframe middleware markets.
