City Hosts VegFest to Promote Healthy Living, Eating

Massage School San Diego has named its “step forward” pick of the week as the Downtown Bethlehem Association, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, following its recent VegFest healthy living and vegan foods festival last weekend.

As an advocate of vegan foods, Massage School San Diego has announced the Downtown Bethlehem Association as its “step forward” pick of the week. Massage School San Diego, which promotes healthy living and San Diego massage schools, issues its "step forward" pick of the week to an inspirational group, person or breakthrough in the massage and healthy living industries.

According to Lehigh Valley Live, the Downtown Bethlehem Association in Bethlehem, Penn., recently presented its second annual VegFest, a festival devoted to promoting vegan foods and healthy living. The event boasted clothing and accessory vendors, local speakers, cooking demos, live music performances and a vegan food court. The association also partnered with YouAnew Lifestyle Nutrition to host a Veganize Me competition, in which one local resident had a month to change his meat-eating habits into a healthy vegan diet.

A council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Bethlehem Association is made up of local business owners and community members. The group works to revitalize and promote the downtown area of Bethlehem, Penn., by organizing more than 100 city events each year.

Bethlehem is a city located in the Eastern area of Pennsylvania. It is part of both Lehigh and Northhampton county. Bethlehem boasts a population of just under 75,000 residents, making it the seventh most-populated city in the state. Founded in 1741, Bethlehem has three main areas: North Bethlehem, West Bethlehem and South Bethlehem. It was ranked No. 88 on Money magazine’s Top 100 Best Places to Live in 2006.

Lehigh Valley Live is the website for the Lehigh Valley Express-Times newspaper. It provides news updates, weather and other local information for the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, including the cities of Easton, Bethlehem, Allentown, Phillipsburg, Warren County, Slate Belt and Upper Bucks.

A vegan diet is on that consists of no animal-based products, including meat, eggs, cheese and other dairy products. While some vegans choose this diet to encourage the ethical treatment of animals, many opt for the lifestyle for its health benefits as well. Vegan diets tend to be high in fiber and nutrients such as magnesium, iron, folic accident and vitamin C. They also tend to be low in calories, cholesterol, fat and more.
