This winter will also mark the 10th year soldiers are asked to brave winter deployment in Afghanistan where temperatures can be brutally cold. In honor of Veterans Day 2010, Verseo decided to help support both activities by raising civilian awareness for military families and offering to send 50 pairs of ThermoSole Rechargeable Heated Insoles to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. We thought this project would be a good way for us to show our support for our troops and their families and hopefully offer some comfort during a season when comfort is most often missed.

"February 15, 2003. The day I met my husband. Within a month he deployed to Iraq for a year. Ann Marie represent a growing number of military families that find a common bond online through blogs, Twitter, and Facebook where they can connect with families that may share aspects of their complex dynamic lives even though they may be miles apart. Something unique to this generation of Veteran families. Reading through military family blog sites is not only thought-provoking and sometimes heart-wrenching, it also serves to educates the civilian world of the depth of sacrifices made by military families themselves.

As Verseo moved further into the social media marketing mix, military spouse bloggers stood out. While some civilian bloggers wrote about the struggles with everyday life, these families often endured the same struggles with the added complexity of being alone while their partners were deployed thousands of miles away.

At the same time, Verseo CEO Robert Fereira had a close friend that would once again be deployed during the winter in Afghanistan where it can be uncomfortably cold. It was through this relationship that Verseo realized it could help honor Veterans Day 2010 by raising civilian empathy and awareness for military families and spouse bloggers and also send a comforting gift to 50 soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.

Verseo's '100 Warm Feet' project worked with military spouse bloggers to create an inspirational video montage portraying their lives. The idea of the video is simple. Show the essence of military families -- from there, the story tells itself. The video only contains content directly obtained from military spouse blogger sites (with their permission). It's life as they know it.

Through the video's promotion, Verseo hopes to raise awareness for the second part of the '100 Warm Feet' Project which includes a sweepstakes to send 50 pairs of ThermoSole Rechargeable Heated Insoles to soldiers deployed in Afghanistan. Entries into the sweepstakes include an optional text box where families can write reasons why they are thankful for their soldiers. These entries will be highlighted on the Verseo.com site in times for the Holidays. "We thought this project would be a good way for us to show our support for our troops and their families and hopefully offer some comfort during a season when comfort is most often missed" says Verseo CEO Robert Ferreira.
