For each VA loan application taken between Thursday and Sunday, Quicken Loans will donate $200 to the USO’s Wounded Warrior Program

Quicken Loans, the nation’s largest online retail mortgage lender, today announced that for every VA loan application taken Thursday, November 11 through the end of day on Sunday, November 14, 2010, a $200 donation will be made to the National USO’s (United Service Organizations) Wounded Warrior Program to support the welfare and needs of wounded troops and their families as they transition back to civilian life.

While Veterans Day is dedicated to honoring retired and active military personnel who served and continue to defend our country, the VA home loan is a special benefit available to them each day of the year. Approximately 24 million active and retired personnel qualify for VA loan privileges, but less than 10 percent of this population has taken advantage of the benefit. VA loans can be used to refinance or purchase a home, and are also available to active duty service members if they intend to return home within a year or have a spouse who will occupy the property. To illustrate the armed forces demographic and statistics surrounding VA loan eligibility, Quicken Loans has generated a military infographic, highlighting this pinnacle benefit of U.S. military service.

Quicken Loans CEO Bill Emerson named and recognized the nearly 100 team members at the company who served in the military with an all-company correspondence. “Today is Veterans Day, an annual holiday to honor the millions of American men and women who’ve served our country. The type of service we are talking about has led to the very freedom we enjoy today and was taken on with the full knowledge that the service may cost the ultimate sacrifice. Without that service, all of our lives could be very different. From the bottom of my heart, I thank every one of the men and women who have served and are still serving our country. If you get a chance, stop by and thank them for their service. Today is their day. Let them know they’re appreciated.”
