America's Heroes at Work, a unique U.S. Department of Labor program that addresses the employment challenges of returning Service Members and Veterans living with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), is pleased to announce the availability of its new web-based training resource, TBI, PTSD and Employment (http://www.americasheroesatwork.gov/forEmployers/presentations/TBIptsd). This interactive tool is designed to educate HR professionals, managers and others about TBI and PTSD in the workplace, and to illustrate how employment can play a very helpful role in the road to recovery for many of our Nation’s wounded warriors. It features basic clinical information about TBI and PTSD, scenario-based learning, and links to tools and resources that can help ensure a successful employment environment – for employers, employees and co-workers who may have TBI and/or PTSD.
The training is free and available 24/7 on the America’s Heroes at Work website. It takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and offers a printable certificate of completion at the end of the module.
Additionally, the America’s Heroes at Work website, http://www.AmericasHeroesAtWork.gov, was recently updated and revamped with several new features and sections.
- A new “For Employers” tab allows employers to find everything they need quickly and easily. From fact sheets and reference guides to presentations and training tools, all employer resources are centrally located for simple reference.
- Employer and Veteran success stories are now highlighted in a new section. Visitors will find impressive stories about America's heroes in the workplace and their satisfied employers. If you are or know a successful OIF/OEF Veteran living with TBI or PTSD or an employer who has successfully hired a Veteran living with TBI or PTSD, please send an email to AmericasHeroesAtWork@dol.gov. The America’s Heroes at Work team is always looking for new success stories to highlight and would be pleased to contact you.
- Visitors can connect with and share the America's Heroes at Work website through the new "Stay Connected" feature. This function is located throughout the site and allows users to bookmark pages, share resources through email and social networking sites, join the LinkedIn group, and subscribe to the America's Heroes at Work Newsletter.
- Finally, the “En Español" page features several translated America’s Heroes at Work resources as well as links to additional resources from the Job Accommodation Network, BrainLine.org, and more.
