Readers will learn to face the daunting and fearful questions of pain, suffering and death with more objectivity and hope,” Vogel says.
LEWISBURG, Pa. (PRWEB) January 13, 2015
For more than 30 years, Dr. Victor G. Vogel dedicated his life and career to the research and treatment of breast cancer. He has personally assisted hundreds of patients and their families who must make difficult decisions regarding treatment and end-of-life care.
Vogel’s new book, “Doctor, What if it Were Your Mother?: Hope, Faith and Reason at the End of Life” (published by WestBow Press), brings his experiences, expertise and insights to a wider audience, encouraging more open conversations between doctors and patients and expounding on his own thoughts on death and dying.
“Doctor, What if it Were Your Mother?” confronts complex disease treatments in a direct, relatable manner. Vogel details his experiences, offering case studies, examples and research to help people choose the treatments that make the most sense. He also includes anecdotes from the moments that shaped him personally: his mother’s passing and his own battle with a life-threatening illness.
Vogel also touches on the current healthcare system in the U.S. and potential financial crisis. He hopes his book will help readers make informed decisions regarding disease management, avoid costly and useless therapies and find comfort when coping with losing loved ones.
“Readers will learn to face the daunting and fearful questions of pain, suffering and death with more objectivity and hope,” Vogel says. “They will gather skills that enable them to ask appropriate questions of their care providers and physicians, and they will be able to make better choices about care at the end of life for both themselves and their loved ones.”
