Manufacturer Embraces Lead-Free Initiative
VirTex Assembly Services, Inc. Upgrades Manufacturing Equipment To
Protect the Environment
AUSTIN, Texas (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) April 4, 2007 --
VirTex Assembly Services, Inc., a manufacturer that provides turnkey
solutions to technology companies, announced today that it has begun
using high-end manufacturing equipment that eliminates the use of lead
based solders in its automated soldering and assembly operations.
“We want to be responsible corporate citizens,”
said Brad Heath, CEO and founder of VirTex. “That’s
one of the reasons why we have invested several hundred thousand dollars
in equipment and provided increased training for our employees. By doing
this, we are able to manufacture products which eliminate lead and other
hazardous substances for our customers.”
VirTex embraced the movement several years ago when the European Union
passed the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (ROHS) in 2003.
Since then, the company has held various regional and national seminars
and informational meetings to advise its customers of the transformation
and new regulatory requirements taking place in the industry as a whole,
and specifically at VirTex. Nearly half the products produced at VirTex
have been converted to meet ROHS compliance, and VirTex expects near
100% conversion by the end of 2007.
“To their credit, almost all of our customers
and suppliers have recognized the importance of this policy and
willingly embraced it,” said Heath. “They
are our partners. Together, we feel like we are doing our part to
protect the environment around us.”
Among those customers that embrace VirTex’
Lead-Free Initiative are:
-
Active Power, Inc. – “We
are pleased to do business with a vendor like VirTex, which is
sensitive to environmental issues. This dovetails well with our
commitment to deliver green critical power solutions to the
marketplace.” David Beatty, Vice President
Engineering.
-
Armida Technologies Corp. – “VirTex
is clearly a market leader in being sensitive to environmental issues.
Armida shares this core value, which reinforces the alignment of our
organizations and strengthens our partnership with VirTex.”
Bill Lawrence, CEO.
-
Lufkin Automation, Inc. – “It
is great that VirTex is sensitive to environmental issues. When you
combine that quality with all the other qualities of the company, it
reinforces our desire to continue our partnership with VirTex.”
