Eric Jackson Joins as Vice President of Product Management

“I’m looking forward to working with the VKernel development team to continue building award-winning virtualization management software,” said Eric Jackson, Vice President of Product Management, VKernel.

VKernel, the number-one provider of capacity management products for virtualized data centers and cloud initiatives, today announced the expansion of the management team to support an accelerating product development schedule. Joining VKernel is industry veteran Eric Jackson who will serve as Vice President of Product Management.

VKernel released five products in 2010 including the VKernel Capacity Management Suite which won the Best of VMworld 2010 gold award in the virtualization management category. To accelerate this already rapid pace of innovation, Eric will lead product management efforts and work closely with customers to ensure that new products meet the needs of the emerging virtualization and cloud computing markets. Eric is the second key executive addition to VKernel’s management team in the past three months, following Tom O’Connell’s recent appointment as Executive Vice President of Customer Operations.

Eric brings a strong track record of building successful companies in the role of product management. He was a cofounder at Ibrix, a venture-backed company offering scalable file system solutions that was acquired by HP in 2009. He also served as Vice President of Products for XOsoft, a disaster and high availability software firm which was acquired by CA in 2006. Most recently, Eric was the Vice President of Sales and Customer Relations at Lab Escape where he led the creation of application-specific solutions through deep customer collaboration. Eric is the inventor and patent holder of several new technologies including the Ibrix distributed file system and innovative techniques for automated computer chip design optimization.

“I’m looking forward to working with the VKernel development team to continue building award-winning virtualization management software,” said Jackson. “Virtualization technology is evolving very quickly, particularly with the recent advancements in cloud-enabling components. My experience in aligning product direction with customer requirements will help VKernel continue to meet and exceed the needs of organizations on the cutting edge.”

“There is a large need in the market today for solutions that drive down infrastructure costs and improve virtual machine performance, particularly as hosting providers and internal data centers begin to establish cloud capacity and self-service business models,” said Doug McNary, CEO, VKernel. “Eric is a key addition to the VKernel team who brings a wealth of product management experience in emerging markets. His efforts will help us further widen the gap with VKernel’s competitors while dramatically improving customer satisfaction.”
