Santa and Mrs. Claus give the Holiday Season its traditional start on Saturday, November 27 when their tugboat chugs into the Historic Downtown Turning Basin around noon. Santa & Mrs. Claus have come to Petaluma by tugboat since a time long ago when our thick fog grounded their flying reindeer and forced them to take the Petaluma River into town. The trip by boat was so delightful, that Santa & Mrs. Claus have arrived at the Golden Eagle Shopping Center by tugboat ever since. A variety of performers will be on hand in the Golden Eagle Shopping Center off of E. Washington Street to entertain the crowd as they await the arrival of the tugboat "Petaluma" with the Claus' aboard . After they make their way from the boat dock to the shopping center, they will greet the children and hand out candy canes.

Following Santa's Arrival; A flotilla of decorated boats will stream into the Petaluma River on December 11th at 6:30pm. The Lighted Boat Parade continues its 20-plus year tradition of illuminating the Petaluma Turning Basin during the holiday season and filling the river with holiday cheer. Boats aglow with colored lights and holiday decorations start from the Petaluma Marina at dusk (about 5:30 p.m.) to sail into the Historic Downtown Harbor against the darkened sky, creating a magical holiday aura.
