Aberdeen Servers and Storage proudly announces the innovative VMware certified 1U server. Featuring the Intel Xeon Nehalem processor, the Stirling 118m server emphasizes unprecedented processor performance, dynamic virtualization and improved SSD storage capabilities.

By optimizing Aberdeen's 1U server with the next generation of storage drives -- flash-based solid-state disk (SSD) drives -- the Stirling becomes ideal for deployments requiring high performance computing, virtual servers or video rendering farms. The Stirling 118m will be on display at the NAB Show and Conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center in booth #SL10225 from April 20-23, 2009. In addition to producing a complete line of Intel® based Xeon® Stirling servers, Aberdeen offers NAS and storage servers with the scalability beyond 400TB.

Aberdeen utilizes the Intel® Xeon® Series 5500 processor to combine the best performance and highest reliability in a customizable 1U short depth server. Together with the superb designs from Supermicro Computer, Inc., Aberdeen offers its highly flexible 1U quad-core Stirling 118m rackmount server as a solution for the SSD and HDD markets. The Stirling 118m server not only provides eight Intel Extreme solid state drives (SSD), it also can be configured with up to 2.4TB of SATA or SAS storage.

Based on the Intel® X58 Express (Tylersburg) chipset, the new Xeon hyper-threading processors achieve new levels of performance with up to 2.25 times better performance than the previous generation. The Stirling 118m grants significant reduction in operating costs with lower power consumption and can achieve a rapid return on investment.

By furnishing a lower cost of ownership and delivering greater throughput capability, Aberdeen's Xeon server provides an entry point in the high performance 1U SSD server market. The ability to include VMware will help to manage servers in mission-critical environments by providing a seamless, flexible and dynamic environment of consolidation. The Stirling 118m will support up to a single Intel Xeon 6.4 GigaTransfer per second QuickPath Interconnect processor, 24GB of DDR3 memory, on board RAID, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, a 560W power supply and all housed in a short depth 20" chassis.
