(NASDAQ: VOCS) a leading provider of on-demand software for public relations management, announced today it has signed a 12-year lease agreement for a new headquarters location in Beltsville, Md. The new office location will provide 93,000 square feet of office space, approximately double the space of the company’s current three-building headquarters campus in Lanham, Md., just outside of Washington, DC.

Vocus’ new headquarters will be based on an architectural concept popularized as “new urbanization,” blending modern architecture with a small town experience, and will essentially resemble a town inside an office building. Like a real town, the new office space will include places to work as well as amenities that allow employees to eat, exercise and re-charge without having to leave the building.
The company, which launched its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform in 1999, has historically gone to great lengths to create a fun office environment that at the same time fosters productivity. Existing amenities in its current space include a basketball court, an “Oasis” employee lounge with pool and ping-pong tables, two modern fitness facilities, and a 1950s-inspired “diner” as an employee cafeteria. As a result, Vocus has been recognized as a great place to work by both the Washington Business Journal and the Washingtonian Magazine.

Vocus has assembled a very experienced project team to facilitate the development of its new headquarters. The building is being developed by First Potomac Realty, a real estate investment trust that focuses on business parks and industrial properties in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. The architect for the project is OTJ, a DC based award winning multi-disciplinary design firm. UGL Equis, a global real estate advisor, acted as the broker on the project.
Vocus has averaged 35% growth over the last 10 years and has continued to hire new employees even during the recent recession. The company has been named to several lists of the fastest growing technology companies in 2009, including Forbes’ list of America’s 25 Fastest-Growing Tech Companies, the Washington Business Journal’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies, and Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500.
