Rožukas’ inspiration for writing “Russian (Re: Jagger, Mick)” is a humble one: “I want to educate readers,” he says, “to teach them to admire pearls and ideas.”

In his 2009 novelRussian (Re: Jagger, Mick)” (published by Trafford Publishing), which is getting a revived marketing push in 2015, author Vytenis Rožukas offers a compelling vision of artists, not governments, bringing peace to the world.

Rožukas’ protagonist, with the help of Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, fights against Arab terrorists and for the freedom of Lithuania against Russian nationalists to extinguish war. That he manages this feat while at the same time including a romantic subplot is a point in his favor.

“May I invite you to coffee, tea, maybe we can go to dancing or something?

I know your type, Don Juan, and very time after one of these encounters I have to by myself a new head.

I kissed her breast and her mouth, a cool grape. Such silence, you think you can hear the moon tapping on the window pane. It is snowing.

Have I told you that love you? I asked.”
