Andover, MA (Vocus) June 15, 2010
Exinda, a global provider of WAN optimisation solutions, today announced that Wakefield Metropolitan District Council utilise a variety of Exinda appliances to provide visibility, control and WAN optimisation for the council’s Education WAN. With links from 130 remote sites into the central core of its network, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council wanted to increase the performance of critical business applications across its Wide Area Network (WAN).
As part of a wider exercise to increase bandwidth capacity on its WAN links, the Council also wanted to understand the profile of the traffic traversing its 8MBps Internet link, and to have the ability to actively shape and modify that profile based on the report findings.
Following a scoping exercise, it was determined and agreed that an Exinda 6710 appliance, licensed to monitor and optimise at speeds up to 1GBps would provide the most appropriate fit. The Exinda was subsequently deployed on the Yorkshire & Humberside Grid for Learning (YHGFL) Internet service, operating at 100MBps but ready to upgrade, at no additional cost, to operate at 1GBps when the circuit is upgraded.
Exinda, a global provider of WAN optimisation solutions, will be participating in SmartGov Live 2010 taking place June 16 and 17 at the ExCel Centre, London England. SmartGov Live is the first major exhibition and conference aimed at UK-based public sector ICT professionals immediately after the General Election. This will provide delegates with the first chance to find out what challenges and opportunities will arise following the election, and what impact it will have on public sector ICT.
Exinda will be exhibiting at stand J10a and will be featuring the Exinda 6060 the latest member of their next generation x60 WAN optimisation appliance family. Designed for medium to headquarter offices and data centers, the 6060 model supports up to 1 Gbps worth of traffic and up to 10,000 users double the number of users supported by the previous generation 6010 platform, meaning customers get more bandwidth support for their investment dollar. When configured with ExOS 5.4 WAN optimisation software load (x800 software) the 6060 supports 3x the number of optimised connections of the 6010.
