Exinda, a global provider of WAN optimisation solutions, today announced that Warrington Borough Council has demonstrated the value of its partnership with Virgin Media Business, and Exinda Gold Certified Reseller, Imerja. The partnership has helped Warrington Borough Council optimise its bandwidth over critical applications as part of its overall flexible working strategy.

Having committed to a flexible working strategy, Warrington Borough Council needed to upgrade its IT infrastructure to allow a large number of people to work remotely, efficiently and securely. To support the new infrastructure, they needed to prioritise the business-critical traffic and monitor the use of recreational traffic to realise the impact on the network.

From the recommendations of Imerja and Virgin Media Business, Warrington Borough Council chose a WAN optimisation appliance from Exinda that would provide the authority with visibility, control and optimisation. The Exinda 4700 appliance enables those responsible for managing the policy to see, view and shape traffic over network links.

Ian Hawkins, Service Design & Delivery Manager, at Warrington Borough Council, explains: “The overall project has been extremely successful for the council and the bandwidth optimisation and monitoring platform from Exinda has enabled us set policies quickly and easily, ensuring services and communications remain available for all users. We have been very impressed with the Virgin Media Business and Imerja partnership – they ensured that the project was delivered on time, and with minimal disruption to normal service.”

Exinda, a global provider of WAN optimisation solutions, will be participating in SmartGov Live 2010 taking place June 16 and 17 at the ExCel Centre, London England. SmartGov Live is the first major exhibition and conference aimed at UK-based public sector ICT professionals immediately after the General Election. This will provide delegates with the first chance to find out what challenges and opportunities will arise following the election, and what impact it will have on public sector ICT.

Exinda will be exhibiting at stand J10a and will be featuring the Exinda 6060 the latest member of their next generation x60 WAN optimisation appliance family. Designed for medium to headquarter offices and data centers, the 6060 model supports up to 1 Gbps worth of traffic and up to 10,000 users double the number of users supported by the previous generation 6010 platform, meaning customers get more bandwidth support for their investment dollar. When configured with ExOS 5.4 WAN optimisation software load (x800 software) the 6060 supports 3x the number of optimised connections of the 6010.
