James Bond theme events and parties have always been extremely popular amongst Warble Entertainment Agency’s customers and so we decided that we would use the theme ourselves and really go to town with the live entertainment.

In 2012 Warble Entertainment Agency (http://www.warble-entertainment.com) decided that in addition to providing band hire and entertainment for their customers, they would use the experience gained through years of working in the entertainment industry to organise their own Warble sponsored events in aid of various local charities. After securing a fantastic Art Deco venue in the market town of Nantwich, Cheshire, the next stage was to plan a range of events that would appeal to the public. Warble Entertainment’s Charity Trustee, Sophie Slater, explains more.
“Initially, we went down the route of tribute bands. We thought if we booked a popular enough band, for example, a Beatles tribute band or a Take That tribute group the event would pretty much sell itself. But, we started to question just how much of a challenge that would really be for us, and, in all honesty hiring a tribute band is something that anybody could do easily enough. We felt we should be giving our ticket buyers more. So, we decided that instead of just live music or tributes we would have full-on themed events. Whilst this would involve a lot more work we really felt it would be a great way for people to remember our events above others – and, hopefully buy tickets to the next one on the back of having had such a good time subsequently.”
The first event took place in the Summer of 2012 and was a 1920s Prohibition Gangster event. Guests dressed to impress on the night and the event sold more than 400 tickets. Entertainment ranged from flapper dancers (who provided lessons to the attendees!), magicians, caricaturists and even a live 1920s Harlem tribute band with stride pianist. The event was a great success and managed to raise in excess of 11k for charity.
The next spectacular took place in September and was dubbed 'The Monster Mash Ball'. This time guests dressed in full horror costume and the entertainment included a Zombie Thriller Dance-Off, Glow Performers, Crystal Ball Manipulators and a live indie cover band - The Indie Killers, who performed 2 floor filling sets of dance floor anthems.
The latest event takes place on May 10th at the Civic Hall in Cheshire and is titled ‘The James Bond Ball’. The theme? Yes, you guessed it… Bond, James Bond.
“James Bond theme events and parties have always been extremely popular amongst Warble Entertainment Agency’s customers – whether they are corporate clients or folks celebrating a birthday or special occasion, and so we decided that we would use the theme ourselves and really go to town.”
When asked why James Bond theme events are so popular Sophie offers the following. “I think it’s a great chance for people to get really dressed up. The ladies can be uber glamorous and the guys can be all tux’d up – but at the same time there is the element of danger, which provides a great mix. And, talking of a great mix, you should check out the live entertainment we have lined up this time! We have everything from a 007 themed Ice Sculpture to Casino tables, plus gorgeous meet and greet showgirls and, of course, the live function band The PopRokits. But, in addition to the live band performing we also have a cabaret spot from ‘The Songs of Bond’ that has to be seen to be believed. There is a lot more as well but in true ‘Spy Style’ we need to keep some things secret.”
The Bond Ball will also feature a charity auction where all the proceeds will be going to the North West & North Wales Paediatric Transport Service. The event opens it’s doors at 7.30pm and live entertainment will begin immediately. So, be dressed to kill and arrive in plenty of time.
