On Saturday, August 11, 2012, the community of Friendswood, TX will be holding a charity 5K and 1K walk/run to raise money for the medical care of a young boy. Rowan Howard, was severely injured in a pool accident on May 20, 2012. Since then he has been fighting to recover from his injuries and to help alleviate some of the financial burden on his family, members of Rowan’s local community are hosting the run to pay for part of his medical care.
The run will be held at Stevenson Park at 1100 South Friendswood Drive in Friendswood, TX on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The 1K will begin at 7:45am and the 5K will begin at 8:00am. Hosting the event will be friends of the Howard family, Jessica Baxter, Kristen Parks and Amy Bryan. Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to come down to Stevenson park to run or walk in the race or to simply attend the event for support of the Howard family. There will be refreshments, door prizes, snow cone machines, games and much more. Complimentary t-shirts will also be given out to the runners. All funds raised through the event will go directly to the Howard family.
The community is also still seeking additional volunteers who are interested in helping out at the run as well as sponsors who are interested in partaking in the event.
