As advocates for those harmed, we mean to hold accountable not only the drunk driver, but the bartenders and party hosts who serve them.
Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) April 15, 2010
The Washington law firm Brett & Coats, P.L.L.C., which focuses on automobile accidents, personal injuries and wrongful death claims, has established an educational Web site about drunk driving accidents and litigation.
Dean Brett, of Brett & Coats, which has Washington offices in Bellingham, Seattle and Spokane, says VictimsofDrunkDrivers.com is a comprehensive resource for families and victims of drunk driving.
"We wanted to establish a single online presence that not only educates the public but indicates the seriousness with which we take our practice on behalf of the victims of drunk drivers," Brett says. "As advocates for those harmed, we mean to hold accountable not only the drunk driver, but the bartenders and party hosts who serve them."
The user-friendly Web site advises victims about the legal process and what to expect along the way. The site also offers words of encouragement and resources about dealing with grief, articles about scientific research and statistics pertaining to drunk driving, as well as recent news items involving drunk driving. Another section of the site allows victims to post their own stories about drunk driving accidents.
One page on the site relates the poignant story of Jimmy Robinson, a young man Brett met in 1977. Brett successfully defended Jimmy’s mother after she shot her abusive, alcoholic husband. A year later, Jimmy was killed by a drunk driver at the age of 16. The Web site is dedicated to Jimmy's memory.
"Drunk driving is, unfortunately, a deep-rooted aspect of our society,” Brett says. “We probably can’t end drunk driving, but we hope we can educate some people about it, and we absolutely will stand up for those harmed by drunk drivers. That's why our site says, 'We sue drunk drivers.'"
