Waycross Community Media is a staple in the thousands of households who enjoy community programming in the Greater Cincinnati area. Known for their excellent programming, Waycross Community Media’s cable channels feature community events, faith-based services, school events, concerts and sports, government meetings and community produced programs. They have won numerous awards over the years on a national, regional and local level. In addition to programming produced by individuals, Waycross produced programs offer a closer look at politics, school and community happenings and interviews with prominent personalities, all of which have been honored for their exceptional content and quality.
Waycross offers workshops to new and prospective producers, learning opportunities for volunteers at all levels of communication interests, and a facility that has professional productiion equipment for use by their program producers. In 2010, Waycross expanded their offerings by creating an Affiliate Producer Program, giving producers from throughout Greater Cincinnati the ability to create and cablecast/webcast programming. These programs include cooking shows, talk-shows, medical news programs, faith based shows and many other exceptional programs.
“Our goal at Waycross is to bring programming to the community that highlights the good things happening within our local area. We have always focused on excellence by providing the training and equipment necessary to do just that,” said Executive Director Chip Bergquist. “We have proven over the years that community programming is viewed and appreciated by the public. Since 1982, we have cablecast over 37,950 local productions. We are pleased to be celebrating this 30-year milestone.”
Waycross Community Media serves Forest Park, Colerain Township, Greenhills, and Springfield Township areas with coverage of school and government events. This programming is shown in these communities on Time Warner Cable on the basic cable service and throughout all of Southwest Ohio on Time Warner Digital channel 979. Content provided by community and affiliate producers is incorporated into their weekly line-up of programs as well.
One of the things that the community producers love about Waycross Community Media is that programs are not only available on cable, but also 24-hours a day, seven-days a week by visiting the Waycross web site and selecting Video On Demand. This allows viewers to watch their favorite programs on their own schedule. Most recently Waycross Community Media also added the ability to view their programs on all digital devices like iPads, iPods and other hand-held gadgets.
For would-be program producers, non-profits, faith-based organizations or communities seeking coverage, Waycross Community Media has more than 250 volunteers and a staff of experienced personnel to help create their programs.
