Bytelaunch developes The Wyland Foundation's newest interactive storyboard.

The storyboard that ByteLaunch designed allows anyone to take part in Stella’s Migration and discover how we can all make a difference in protecting the North Atlantic Right Whale.

ByteLaunch, an Orange County web design, web development and internet marketing company, has been working with the not for profit Wyland Foundation in Irvine to create an interactive storyboard for their newest multi-city educational tour in Florida. This storyboard gives viewers the opportunity to track Stella the Whale’s “migration” to various schools throughout Florida.

Stella began her 30-day voyage on October 14, 2012. Her journey gives students the opportunity to understand the dangerous migration whales go through each year. This “migration” throughout 22 schools in Florida mirrors the average traveling distance of a right whale’s migration and demonstrates the importance of overcoming obstacles, big or small, in order to achieve goals.

“The Wyland Foundation uses classroom education, live events, and technology to spread awareness of the world’s oceans, waterways, and marine life,” said renowned marine life artist Wyland. "The storyboard that ByteLaunch designed allows anyone to take part in Stella’s Migration and discover how we can all make a difference in protecting the North Atlantic Right Whale.”

ByteLaunch developed the custom interactive storyboard so that viewers can track Stella’s route, view participating schools, analyze one’s impact on whales, and view Stella’s location in real time. Instead of programming the animations in the traditional Adobe Flash, ByteLaunch decided to program in the much newer HTML5 and CSS3 technologies.

“We chose to develop the interactive map in HTML5 and CSS3 because it would allow us to create a vibrant and fun animation without having to use Flash, which is a technology that is not compatible on all browsers and devices, such as Apple products,” said Michael Craig, founder and President at ByteLaunch. “HTML5 and CSS3 gives viewers the ability to watch Stella’s journey from a computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone. We really wanted to give everyone the opportunity to use this storyboard anytime and anywhere.”

ByteLaunch, a leader in internet marketing strategies, started out as a digital agency specializing in web development. It quickly expanded to becoming a full service company, becoming experts in interactive media, software development and web design and development. While working with the Wyland Foundation, ByteLaunch has been able to hone in on its interactive design expertise.
