The sale price was not disclosed. Glaser would only reveal that when the domain was offered he instantly saw the potential for what he called “another under utilized” domain name.
The venerable location, exit 18 on I-95 in Connecticut, is the home to the Town of Westport, an affluent suburb of New York.
Mr. Glaser has been quietly buying prime domain names over the past year for development under the “HOT” brand name and for investment.
When pressed for what his plans were, the native Westport resident disclosed a search portal similar to Google, Yahoo or MSN but on a local level for the residents and businesses of the Town of Westport.
Local businesses can obtain top search position utilizing Exit18’s own pay per click (PPC) advertising program similar to programs used by Google adWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft’s MSN adCenter. The cost of PPC is far less expensive than old line methods such as print, cable TV or other forms of media, and is far more effective.
