Brinkster Beta Releases New Web-based File Manager Developed with Adobe Flex

Brinkster, a leading web hosting company, today announced the release of its new web-based File Manager that was developed using Adobe's open source Flex Framework. The new File Manager has an easy to use interface and is unlike any other in the web hosting industry.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) November 20, 2008 -- Brinkster, a leading web hosting company, today announced the release of its new web-based File Manager that was developed using Adobe's open source Flex Framework. The new File Manager has an easy to use interface and is unlike any other in the web hosting industry. Brinkster customers can now perform common file related functions right from a web browser. "After many months in development we are excited to beta release the next generation in web based file and folder management. This new tool gives our customers the ease of use they have been asking for," said Jared Stauffer, President and CEO.

The new File Manager enables customers to change file and folder security permissions on the fly. Another new addition is the text editor which allows you to open multiple files, search for text, jump to a line in the code, then make a change or update. These features allow for quick customization of a customer's web space. Customers can also select as many files as desired and upload them while watching a detailed progress bar.

Simplicity was a primary objective in the creation of New Brinkster File Manager. To achieve this Brinkster incorporated the look and feel of a standard PC file system. Managing files with the New Brinkster File Manager feels like an extension of the customer's desktop and, therefore, is extremely simple for customers to learn and use. It supports many similar features such as multiple windows with different file view options. Customers can see files in the common tile or detail views as well as the image view list option. With the image view list option customers can click through images they have in a folder while viewing a thumbnail of the currently selected image.

This new tool was built using open source Adobe Flex Framework, which runs inside Adobe's popular Flash 9 technology that is already installed on 97% of Brinkster's customer's computers. Adobe Flex has helped Brinkster build a web application that is highly interactive, easy to learn and able to be deployed consistently across all major browsers, desktops and operating systems.
