Home Care Assistance – Toronto/York Region to Host Webinar on Caregiver Mindfulness
Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) July 22, 2014 -- Home Care Assistance – Toronto/York Region (HomeCareAssistance-Toronto.com), the leading provider of non-medical, in-home senior care in the Greater Toronto Area, is announcing that it is hosting a public webinar on Thursday, July 24 about the topic of caregiver mindfulness.
Being a caregiver can be an emotional position that can be difficult to fully endure if one isn’t prepared or aware of how to disconnect when needed. That’s why Home Care Assistance – Toronto/York Region is leading this national webinar, in hopes that all caregivers who participate will have a better understanding of how to handle themselves so they can provide the best elder care service possible.
“Caregivers give so much when they are caring for a senior or loved one,” says Lester Fix, executive vice president of Home Care Assistance – Toronto/York Region. “What we hope to accomplish with this webinar is to identify the causes of caregiver stress and make them more aware of these causes so they can better equip themselves mentally. Caregivers who aren’t properly equipped can experience burnout and we want to prevent that as much as possible.”
The webinar will feature award-winning author and licensed clinical social worker Nancy Kriseman. The discussion will be focused around concepts in Nancy’s latest book, The Mindful Caregiver: Finding Ease in the Caregiving Journey. Among other topics, the problem of how a caregiver can deal with the change in their loved ones will be a main point of focus.
“Being mindful is not always an easy thing to accomplish in the field of elder care, and people are increasingly disconnected from themselves and from each other in this age of technology,” Fix concludes. “Caregivers need to be able to operate within the boundaries of compassion and acceptance and it’s a difficult line to walk.”
The webinar will begin at 2:00 p.m. EST, with the final 15 minutes being left for a question and answer period. Space is limited, so those interested in the discussion need to sign up as soon as possible at https://www..gotomeeting.com/register/498048486.
