The first of three pilot episodes of The Broken Continent, a new fantasy web series, will premiere online on Sunday, March 10th 2013 at 9pm EST at http://www.getbroken.tv. The remaining episodes will air on Sunday, March 17th and Sunday, March 24th.
In the pilot episodes, viewers plunge into Elyrion, the continent of the title. Ages past, Elyrion was broken by a vengeful god into fragments now known as the Five Shards. Now, it is a land full of rival lords, mysterious powers, and common folk just trying to survive. Unable to re-unite the land through magic or peaceful means, Eadwyn Redway, a young and ambitious king, is trying to unite the Shards through force of arms. A bitter war rages, sending countless refugees to the Ironleaf Forest, where a ragged band of female warriors known to outsiders as the Women of the Wood are forced to find a way to halt Eadwyn’s bloody campaign.
Inspired both by engaging adventure tales and character-driven serial dramas, The Broken Continent is part of the new landscape of original online content that allows greater creative freedom and interaction with viewers. Thanks to tremendous support from fans of the fantasy genre, the producers were able to crowdfund the pilot episodes via the website Kickstarter. They now seek to expand the world of Elyrion in future episodes by attracting additional funding and distribution.
