A new web site called Overallhealth.com launches today with the goal of building a community of people to share information, advice and stories to help them achieve their fitness goals.

The site was founded by Shawn A. Sark of Nashville, Tennessee, who ten years ago began an amazing physical transformation that resulted in his losing 300 pounds of body weight. That process introduced Shawn to the world of fitness, and he hasn't looked back since. For several years, Shawn was hesitant to talk about his weight loss experience and his past as a severely overweight person. Eventually, with the encouragement of friends and family, Shawn decided to use his past experience and knowledge gained about healthy living to help others.

The web site is divided into a number of major sections, some networking-oriented and some content-oriented. The sections include a community component, articles and stories, discussion groups, a recipe exchange, news, ebooks, and product and restaurant reviews. The long-term goal is for the site to be the ultimate information and inspiration source for those looking to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The emphasis for the site is on providing support for those involved in the process of losing weight. Discussing his weight loss experience, site founder Sark said, "There were so many times I needed to talk to someone and there was just no one to talk to." He discovered that there are many web sites where you can read information related to weight loss, but that the information was widely dispersed and required great effort to aggregate. Elaborating on his experience, Sark stated, "There is a tremendous amount of information on weight loss out there, and I would have liked one central area to meet people and research weight loss and health products, information and services." In other words, Sark needed a resource just like Overallhealth.com.

Sark is also the author of a book titled "Slimming Your Shadow: A Guide for Parents of Overweight Children." Written in 2003, the book existed only on Sark's computer for six years. After re-discovering his own words, Sark was more determined than ever to build a support platform for those struggling with weight loss. Sark began the process of creating Overallhealth.com, and has made the book available on the website.

The web site is free to use and open to the public. With its ever growing archive of articles, recipes, fitness advice and other information, Overallhealth.com is poised to become a hub for those seeking a supportive community to support their fitness goals.
