Babes on the Run has just launched their Weight Loss Personal Training program in addition to their series of women's only packages. Launched in Perth in 2007, Babes on the Run was started by mother and personal trainer Justine Guest in an effort to give women access to professional, results based personal training programs that were affordable, social and outdoors.
Concerned by the complications and lack of support some of her clients who had undergone lap band procedures were experiencing, Guest has produced the Babes Weight Loss program to address many of the issues raised. Feedback from clients confused by the large range of diet and coaching advice available led to ensuring that the Babes Weight Loss Program addressed a range of issues specific to many women in one simple program.
"People need to be educated about the reality of living with a lap banding procedure. It has many good points but some of the negatives can impact your quality of life. I have a client that hasn't been able to eat a proper meal in months. It's just not a quick fix," says Guest.
"Our Weight Loss program has been designed so the trainer is working with each client in some way almost every day. This ensures we can stay in constant contact and offer on-going support instead of retrospectively trying to analyse what is happening in a client's life," says Guest. "Clients benefit from us working with them on all aspects of their lifestyle instead of just getting them moving for a few hours a week or putting them on a diet. This program changes lives."
Included each week is wellness coaching, Babe Squad boot camp training and 1-on-1 Babes Personal Training. Clients also benefit from the proven 6 week Revitalise weight loss and nutrition package by renowned nutritionist Jo Beer. Educating clients to prepare healthy, nutritionally balanced meals has helped many overcome food concerns.
"It was important to us to have this weight loss program focus on the clients' needs and to balance that with the benefits that women get from connecting with each other. We just don't put our female clients through a 'run-of-the-mill' program on a machine that was designed for men in a room full of people she doesn't know. This has been proven time and time again to be ineffective, confidence robbing and potentially expensive. Even in our small groups, Babes Trainers know each and every client personally and we take great pride in getting results for them," says Guest.
"Weight loss just happens to be a wonderful side effect of living well and being active. It's easier when you know what to do and have support," says Ms Guest.
Guest also advises to be careful about thinking you have tried everything as many weight loss programs and gyms aren't designed for your success but to part you from your cash.
Lap banding can drastically alter lives. Guest advises that before you take any kind of drastic action that you do your research. Contact and meet up with Lap Band support groups and ask the difficult questions like 'given a choice, would you do it again?'. Find out as much as you can before committing.
Babes Weight Loss programs run in many suburbs throughout the metropolitan Perth area.
Current sites include: Hillarys, Mindarie, Lake Monger, Inglewood, City Beach, South Perth, Shelley, Point Walter, Fremantle, Mosman Park, Coogee, Rockingham and Kings Park.
