This is our fifth year participating in the annual Operation Warm service fair, and we thank Operation Warm and CHA for giving us an opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of this community.

Harmony Health Plan, a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, Inc., (NYSE: WCG), donated $15,000 for the purchase of new coats, and 5,000 hats and gloves to Operation Warm. Harmony employees joined the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) and Operation Warm to distribute this clothing, and health information during the CHA’s Operation Warm service fair held earlier this month.

Each year, CHA partners with Operation Warm, the Chicago Department of Human Services (CDHS), and other organizations to help low-income children who live in Chicago public housing stay warm during the city’s severe winter.

"Harmony Health Plan is committed to building partnerships and connecting our members and neighbors with organizations that offer support in meeting basic social needs," said Dave Reynolds, WellCare’s region president for Conn., Ill., Mo., N.J., N.Y. and Ohio. "This is our fifth year participating in the annual Operation Warm service fair, and we thank Operation Warm and CHA for giving us an opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of this community."

"Operation Warm has turned into a holiday ritual for Chicago, and CHA was thrilled to have partnered with Harmony Health Plan for the 2013 extravaganza," said Matthew Aguilar, senior manager of communications, CHA. "We had another fun day of warm smiles and good feelings, and were happy to see thousands of happy children walk out of the UIC Forum with brand new winter coats."

Since 2008, more than 48,000 coats have been distributed during CHA’s annual Operation Warm service fairs. During the 2013 event, more than 2,900 families attended and more than 10,000 new coats were distributed.

As of Sept. 30, 2013, WellCare serves approximately 145,000 Medicaid plan members, 14,000 Medicare Advantage plan members, and 23,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members in Illinois.
