New Castle Hotels & Resorts, a leading provider of third-party hotel management services, has announced the appointment of a new Executive Chef at their Westin Nova Scotia Hotel, a landmark hotel in downtown Halifax. Raj Gupta, with over 15 years experience as an Executive Chef in five different countries, has assumed the role and will lead the culinary team in the hotel's food and beverage outlets, as well as the 23,000 square feet of conference and banquet facilities.

"I'm thrilled about this opportunity," said Chef Gupta. "I'm joining a team of professionals whose goal is to deliver the highest level of quality throughout the hotel and restaurant. This gives me the chance to continue to cultivate my passion for cuisine."

Prior to joining the company, Chef Gupta was most recently Executive Chef for Epicurus Hospitality Group, a premier catering company in Halifax. His experience has mostly been at Sheraton Hotel properties and as Director of Culinary Operations and Food and Beverage at the Casino Nova Scotia and Hotel. Born and educated in Delhi, India and Cornell University, Chef Gupta has worked in 11 countries including Bahrain, China, Australia, Thailand and Bali. Chef Gupta has won many awards for his skill including Chef of the Year and Culinarian of the Year in 2004 by the Chefs Association of Canada. He is also a gold medalist in the 1992 World Culinary Olympics.
