People learn and retain more when they are rewarded for greatness rather than punished for bad behavior.

Carlton’s Training Solutions has built its clients’ human resource management on corporate training videos like Whale Done and Would I Follow Me. But what does it all involve? Can a video make that much of an impact? Countless organizations use these programs every year. In fact these two programs are used more than any other for management. Carlton’s Training Solutions seems to have cornered the market on management training for a good reason.
[Whale Done started off as an experiment. And the experiment seemed to question whether killer whales and human learn the same way. It turns out surprisingly that they do. At least in regards to management training. And in the final analysis it’s a hard argument to fight. A Ken Blanchard discovered and commented on in this landmark video, “People learn and retain more when they are rewarded for greatness rather than punished for bad behavior.”
Ken Blanchard had a good point. When thoughts creep into every manager’s mind about yelling at an employee or embarrassing or scolding them in front of others he thinks of when it was done to him. But it’s still hard to avoid. It works time and time again on every animal not just humans.
Would I Follow Me exaggerated a manager’s behavior to prove a simple point asked in the title of the program. People model and follow behavior that appeals to them. If employees don’t follow it, managers shouldn’t do it. It’s as simple as that.
Carlton’s Training Solutions captured the essence of human resource management with the Whale Done and Would I Follow Me videos. The key trainers have to realize is the power of the personal relationships established in utilizing such programs. The Whale Done and Would I Follow Me videos aren’t just an answer for the clients of Carlton’s Training Solutions, but an answer for personal individual growth.
