Solo Horton Brushes, a leading supplier of industrial brushes since 1920, recently extended its line of small diameter (under six inches) wire wheel brushes. Wire wheel brushes are designed for a variety of jobs including cleaning, deburring, finishing, roughening, removing scale, smoothing welds, and stripping wire.
“Our small diameter wire wheel brushes offer maximum versatility on the job,” said L. J. Skeie, President of Solo Horton Brushes. “The brushes feature durable material designed to deliver top performance - both for electric and air power applications - and reduce operator fatigue.”
A wire wheel brush is attached to grinders or other machinery that rotates the brush at high speeds to remove material or debris. Wheel brush bristles can fan out as a group of individual wire strands or as a grouping of wire strands twisted together.
Solo Horton’s small diameter wire wheel brush inventory includes:
Solo Horton’s 1800 Series small diameter wire wheel brushes are available in a variety of sizes with stainless steel or carbon steel fill. Copper centers hold wire securely. Maximum safe free speed is 13,000 RPM. Solo Horton offers free Arbor adapters with every 1800 Series purchased.
Radial brushes are similar to the 1800 Series, except the brush part is permanently mounted on ¼ inch shanks between oversized side plates. This eliminates the need for separate shanks. The stiffness of the radial brush is equal to bench-mounted wheels without excess weight. Radial brushes are available in carbon steel and stainless steel. Maximum safe free speed is 20,000 RPM.
Wire Cup Brushes
Universal wire cup brushes have ¼ inch lock shanks and are easily mountable in electric or air tools. The hollow center design allows a large amount of material to be removed without build-up. Wire cup brushes are constructed of carbon steel or stainless steel. Maximum safe free speed is 13,000 RPM.
Wire End Brushes
Wire end brushes are great for scale, slag, rust, paint, rubber, or plastic flash removal, as well as many other cleaning or finishing operations. The wire end brushes are available in carbon steel or stainless steel fill. Maximum safe free speed is 20,000 RPM.
