As the pioneer of the domain name registration service, Network Solutions has plenty of experience with the WHOIS database -- so it's no surprise that the first WHOIS lookup application for phones running Google's Android operating system was developed by Network Solutions. With a number of Android equipped phones debuting this year, this application will be useful for looking up domains and attendant WHOIS business listing information on the go.

The application, simply called "WHOIS," is available now from the Android Market on equipped phones, and allows the user to easily look up information on the domain or IP of their choice, including the WHOIS business listing. All a user with an Android equipped phone--currently the G1 by T-Mobile, with a number of other options coming out later in the year--needs to do is visit the Android Market on his or her phone and download the application. After it's installed, simply selecting the icon will launch it and allow the user to quickly and easily look up information on the go.

"This application is particularly beneficial to Web designers, developers, and network engineers," said Kamalesh Dwivedi, Chief Information Officer for Network Solutions. "It can be easily used to validate domain information and contact information, as well as to see if desired domains are available for purchase."

Network Solutions® has been working with the WHOIS database since its inception, with a number of benefits to current and potential customers. This Google® mobile application is just the most recent effort. Like the WHOIS business listing, it will provide further convenience for small business clients.

Dwivedi added, "Not only web designers and developers will benefit from this application. As more and more people begin connecting to the web via mobile devices, applications like these will become the norm for any small business owner. Network Solutions is proud to be in at the beginning of this development."
