A member of Sweepstakes Advantage, an online directory for the latest contests and sweepstakes, received good news early this week when she learned that she will be granted a check worth $5,000 in exchange for her declined trip win in July.

I have to go get my paperwork notarized and then they will send my check

A Sweepstakes Advantage (“SA”) member, who had to decline her grand prize win that entitled her to win a trip to Los Angeles for a chance to meet Jennifer Grey because of a huge fear for flying, was surprised to learn that the sponsors of the contest, Skinny Cow, has decided to grant her a check worth $5,000 as consolation for the prize that was originally valued at $11,900.

Katiesmom (not real name), a 39-year old SA gold member from Michigan, received the news that she won the grand prize of the Skinny Cow Sweepstakes last July 20th. However, because of a bad experience that made her despise flying, the unfortunate winner had to decline her biggest win in the last 12 months. When Katiesmom asked the representative if she can have another prize instead, she was told that she should take it or none of it. Not to waste the prize, the SA member declined.

Then on September 10th, Katiesmom received a package from FedEx which contains some paperwork that she needs to work on. According to the attached letter on the package, Skinny Cow was not able to find an alternative winner, and thus, it has decided to keep the former winner and give her $5,000 in the form of a check.

“I have to go get my paperwork notarized and then they will send my check. I am so excited I almost fell over when I read the letter. Thanks SA and Skinny Cow,” said the overwhelmed Katiesmom on her post on the SA Forum.

Meanwhile, more members won exciting gift packages from various sponsors.
New SA member, Willow0824 (not real name), has been chosen as the grand prize winner of the Subway SubPrize Party Game, which entitled her to a NYC Daily Grand Prize trip valued at $5,000. To confirm her win, Willow0824 was asked to complete the formal requirements of her and her accompanying traveler.

Another lucky winner is SA bronze member, Viggy74 (not real name), who was one of the 25 grand prize winners of the Marlboro Sound of Gold contest. The prize package entitled him of a 4-day/3-night trip for four to a ranch in the Western US in January 2013. The package that costs $8,925 includes roundtrip coach air transportation, accommodations, meals at the ranch, activities, and pocket money awarded in the form of check to the winner.

Another SA member, Tigerkitty (not real name), is also a big winner this September, as she was chosen as the VroomGirls SoCal Beach Getaway contest. The winner’s prize is a 3-night’s stay in an ocean view room for two at a beachfront hotel in Santa Monica, California. The package also includes breakfast and dinner at Catch restaurant, and two services at the Sea Wellness Spa at Hotel Casa del Mar. The prize costs a total of $2,400 but does not include airfare.
“Hubby won’t fly anyway. He wants to drive out and have a road trip, so exciting!” said a very happy Tigerkitty on SA Forum. She also thanked SA and the sponsor for the win.

Last but not the least, here’s a funny story of a friend who won the grand prize because he’s friend entered his name. New SA member, Ruehlbabe925m, entered the name of his friend in a contest that he has been trying out for a week. Once, he entered a different name, which is his friend’s name, and it turns out that the friend has been picked as the grand prize winner.
The grand prize win costs $4,200, which covers for the round trip airfare for two to either Waikiki, Hawaii or the Caribbean Island of Jamaica, 5-day/4-nights’ double occupancy hotel accommodations, and $1,000 in cold cash.“Luckily I made him promise to take me before I entered him and he said he would, so I’m coming along as well!” a happy and proud SA member said in the SA Forum.

SA’s CEO, Kenneth Carlos, extended his congratulations to all the winners of the early half of September. He also wishes for everyone to have their own winning moment, and encourages all to share their stories on the SA Forum to inspire all those who are still finding their way to great wins.
