Summer is a great time for sauvignon blanc. It’s crisp and refreshing and pairs well with all kinds of summer fare.

Rutherford, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2012

June 21 is International Sauvignon Blanc Day at St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery, and the leader in sauvignon blanc is inviting everyone to take part in the special online wine tasting event, which will be held from midnight to 11:59 p.m. across all time zones. Participate in the online conversation on Twitter by following “#SauvBlanc” and follow @stsupery to see what’s happening in Napa Valley that day.

Sauvignon blanc enthusiasts, wineries, restaurants or wine shops who would like to participate in #SauvBlanc Day are welcome to RSVP through http://2012sauvblancday.eventbrite.com and submit their logo for inclusion on the page.

“Summer is a great time for sauvignon blanc. It’s crisp and refreshing and pairs well with all kinds of summer fare,” Michael Scholz, winemaker at St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery, said. “We’re kicking off summer 2012 with a global tasting of this popular warm weather wine.”

Sauvignon blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that is planted in many regions worldwide. It produces wine that differs in taste, from grassy to sweet tropical, depending on the climate where the vines are grown. This global event provides an excellent platform for comparative tasting and is a fun way to learn about the different styles unique to each region.

“This is an opportunity to join a global wine tasting event,” Scholz said. “Get on Twitter or Facebook and join the world-wide conversation about sauvignon blanc by marking your tweets and posts with #SauvBlanc.”

St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery--the producer of highly acclaimed wines and one of Napa’s best Sauvignon Blancs, including the 2010 Dollarhide Estate Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, which was listed as one of the year’s best by Wine & Spirits magazine--conceptualized the event in 2009 and continues to host the annual celebration. The vineyard is inviting wineries, wine clubs, restaurants, wine shops, wine lovers and those who wish to try the varietal for the first time to participate. Participation can vary from offering appetizers that pair with a sauvignon blanc on the wine menu to having a group tasting with friends to try out a new bottle.
