This week, hundreds of teens and families are expected to attend the third annual "I Have The Power" Teen Summit. The summit, hosted by the Power Promise Organization which was established to serve schools, equip parents, impact students and inspire women to help Central Florida communities achieve a brighter future, will feature the inspirational author of "Winners Don't Quit . . . Today They Call Me Doctor" Dr. Pamela McCauley Bush, as its speaker on Friday, May 17th, at 7 p.m.

Through incredible determination and vision, Dr. Bush overcame immense life hurdles to be hailed today as an award-winning innovative leader, respected engineering expert and a globally renowned motivational speaker in the Women’s Leadership and STEM Education communities. Dr. Bush will draw on her personal experiences as well as her research on leadership and strategies for overcoming adversity, to share practical and proven tips on how to succeed against the odds.

The Teen Summit is a collaborative effort that includes the Florida Dept. of Juvenile Justice, Evans High School, the Greater Orlando Cares Mentoring Group and a host of community based organizations throughout Orange County.

The Power Promise Organization's Vice President and Program Director, Ursula James, said of the summit: "We are bringing together families and community groups to educate and unite the community we live in. We are thrilled to have the engaging and inspirational Dr. Bush be a part of this important effort!" Dr. Bush's appearance will be part of her "50 Days of Giving for 50 Years of Living" Campaign that she recently kicked off at Orlando's BETA Teen Center.

The "I Have The Power" Teen Summit is being held at Evans Community School from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Friday May 17th and 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 18th. In addition to Dr. Bush, the summit will include a talent showcase, workshops, free food, entertainment and give-aways. Evans Community School is located at 4949 Silver Star Road in Orlando.
