Wintergreen Resort , an 11,000-acre, four-season resort located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is staging WinterFest, weekend full of family focused activities, February 6-8. Ski races, a lost-and-found fashion show, glow-stick parade, carnival food and a search for the Secret Skier are designed with families in mind.
Ridgeley's Fun Park, Wintergreen's newest winter play area for small kids, features a mini-tubing carousel, fun tunnels and sledding. Hour-long sessions are available for $10, while two-hour sessions are available for $18.
The Treehouse is Wintergreen's award-winning children's program. The Treehouse is a great opportunity for children ages 2 1/2 to 12 to learn how to ski and snowboard, or simply improve their skills on the slopes. Full-day program includes lift access, up to four hours of ski lesson time, ski equipment, lunch, snacks, and hot chocolate. Full day programs are $95 during the week and $135 per child on Saturday and Sunday. Half day programs are available Monday through Friday for $65 and on Sunday for $90, per child.
For older kids with extra adrenaline, the Out of Bounds Adventure Center has its own bungee/trampoline apparatus. Or, the Adventure Dome is the perfect place to stage a friendly family completion, complete with four Nintendo Wiis, eight Xbox 360s, a pool table and lots of comfortable seating. The Adventure Dome, new during the off-season, has become the hangout spot for both young and old and features Wi-Fi Internet access, air hockey, a mechanical bull, foosball tables, a theatre showing ski, snowboard and other sporting events, and children's interactive games.
