Wirefly to Donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for Every New Facebook Friend in October

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That’s a devastating statistic, which is why this October Wirefly will be donating one dollar to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every new Facebook fan we acquire.

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Wirefly (http://www.wirefly.com), the Internet’s leading authorized retailer of cell phones, smartphones and cell phone plans, is pleased to announce the launch of its very first social media fundraising initiative benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader of the breast cancer awareness movement. During October, Wirefly has pledged to contribute a $1.00 donation to Susan G. Komen for every new fan who ‘Likes’ Wirefly’s Facebook page.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime,” said Dave Rook, chief marketing officer of Simplexity, Wirefly’s parent company. “That’s a devastating statistic, which is why this October, to coincide with our eighth anniversary, we’ll be donating one dollar to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every new Facebook fan we acquire.”

Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness month until October 31, Wirefly is encouraging Facebook members to take action and support the world’s largest breast cancer organization. Simply go to http://www.wirefly.com, look for the pink box and click ‘Like” and Wirefly will donate $1.00 to the cause. At the end of the month, Wirefly will present a check to Komen, reflecting the total number of ‘Likes’ received during the promotion, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $25,000.

“We are so excited about Wirefly’s commitment to helping us in our mission to end breast cancer forever,” said Margo K. Lucero, vice president, business development & partnerships. “Partnering with the Internet’s leading retailer of cell phones and cell phone plans is a great opportunity, and we hope that as people engage with Wirefly, they will also be inspired to take action and get screened.”

Each new Wirefly Facebook fan will not only initiate a donation to breast cancer research, but they can also learn about discounted wireless phones and services for themselves. October is, coincidentally, also Wirefly’s eighth anniversary. The Wirefly Anniversary Sale featuring great deals on the latest cell phones and smartphones, will also run throughout the month and it is not necessary to be a Facebook fan of Wirefly to save big money. Popular Android-powered devices will be available at amazing prices, such as the DROID Charge 4G from Samsung and LG Revolution 4G.

To become a ‘fan’ of Wirefly, for additional information regarding this worthwhile social media fundraiser, or to visit the Wirefly Anniversary Sale, go to wirefly.com.
